The People and Communities Impacted By Coal Plant Closures
December 07, 2020
The electric power sector consumed 30% less coal in the first-half of 2020 than it did in 2019, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration. A growing number of coal plants are closing across Indiana and the country.
Today we talk about the effect plant closures have on the people and communities around them, and how some are working to transition to something better. We talk to a researcher who studied economic impacts, and leaders of Just Transition NWI about the work they're doing to create a new, regenerative economy.
