Takeover Schools
December 19, 2019
Indianapolis Public Schools wants to take back control of three schools operated by Charter Schools USA. Today we dig into this saga, and the ongoing story of a troubled school in Gary.
We talk to WFYI Education Reporter Eric Weddle about what a state takeover means for schools. In the process, the state government moves in to oversee a school’s operations, or assigns a private company to take over administrative duties. How are these changes executed? Is this the most effective strategy to turn failing schools around?
