There's some good news in math, mostly bad news in reading and lots of questions about why students are still struggling.

In 85 counties in Indiana, all children under age 5 can register to read free books delivered to their home through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. That’s 31 more counties than a year ago.

The Indiana State Teachers Association is demanding the state education department provide more and clear details of how educators are affected by the requirement.

Indiana teachers will be able to earn a literacy endorsement through a free professional development course offered by the Indiana Department of Education. Educators who complete the course will also receive a $1,200 stipend for their time.
