Ivy Tech Community College trustees voted 11-0 Wednesday afternoon to hire Ellspermann as the school's president starting July 1. She had widely been considered the leading candidate since resigning as Lt. Governor in March.

Ivy Tech Community College's trustees are scheduled to vote May 18 on a new president and a former state elected official could become the next president of the the statewide community college system.

Ivy Tech Community College President Tom Snyder will retire in 2016 from leading the statewide system. The college Board of Trustees approved a transition contract this morning that allows Snyder to more easily step down about a year before his current contract ends.
