On an election night when a predicted GOP wave didnt materialize in many places across the country, Hoosier Republicans secured continued supermajorities at the Statehouse.

Incumbents retained their seats in most of the central Indiana House races on the midterm election ballot. But one race remained uncertain Thursday afternoon as votes continued to be counted. District 89 is within about 250 votes.

Democrat Frank Mrvan won reelection to his northwestern Indiana congressional seat on Tuesday, surviving an expensive campaign in which Republicans made their first serious challenge in decades for the longtime Democratic stronghold.

Lawmakers representing the greater Indianapolis area in the U.S. House of Representatives will retain their seats.

The average CenterPoint residential customer pays about $168 a month for 1,000 kilowatt hours of electricity. The utility has had noticeably higher prices than others for at least a decade, but that gap has started to narrow since 2020.

Polls are open for the 2022 midterm election. Marion County residents can vote between now and 6 p.m. at any of the county’s voting centers.

The race was among four contested municipal races, including clerk, sheriff and recorder. The races for Marion County auditor and assessor were uncontested.

Democrats took two of three state senate seats representing Marion County during Tuesday's midterm election.

The pro-Trump Republican easily defeated Democrat Gary Snyder and Independent Nathan Gotsch.
