INDIANAPOLIS — U.S. Rep. Todd Young, R-Indiana, is getting ready to report “record-setting” campaign fundraising numbers in the race to replace fellow Republican U.S. Sen. Dan Coats, who is retiring.

From October to December, Young raised $749,163 — the second-highest total ever for a non-incumbent senator in Indiana for an off-year, according to Young’s campaign manager, Trevor Foughty.

Young has raised more than $2.9 million for the cycle, the most ever for a non-incumbent Hoosier candidate at this point in the cycle.

Foughty said the campaign will also report over $2.6 million cash-on-hand.

“We’re proud of the support Todd continues to earn across the state, and the momentum he’s building,” Foughty said.

“It shows [Hoosiers] want a senator with a proven record of fighting — and winning — on some key conservative issues,” he said.

Young currently represents the 9th congressional district of Indiana and is one of three Republicans running for the Senate seat. Former Congressman Baron Hill is running as a Democratic party candidate.

Republican Eric Holcomb’s campaign reports they’ve raised more than $500,000 so far, including $60,000 in the fourth quarter.

“We’re raising the money we need to raise to run the campaign that we want to run. It is a non-traditional strategy; one we think will win in this current political environment,” Justin Garrett, Holcomb’s campaign manager, said.

None of the other candidates running responded to requests for comment or released numbers.

Official campaign fundraising reports for the fourth quarter are scheduled to be released later this month.
