United Way Needs Help To Help Others This Holiday

Time is running out for one local organization to reach its Christmas campaign goal.

Every year, United Way of Central Indiana’s United Christmas Service helps families in need during the holidays in two ways.   One, by matching families with donor groups that provide toys, clothing, food and other holiday necessities.  The group also provides people with restricted vouchers for those holiday items.

Mary Jones, UWCI director of community projects, says the program has an $800,000 goal to try to reach as many people as possible.

"Almost 8,000 families have been referred to our program this year and we want to help as many of them as we can," says Jones.

The group is still over $300,000 short of its goal, which needs to be reached by Dec. 17, and is asking for the public’s help. Monetary donations are being accepted at uwci.org/ucs

Families that need help during the holidays can call Connect2Help at 2-1-1.
