Trail Restricted During South Split Project

Trail Restricted During South Split Project

The Cultural Trail will be restricted and detoured as work nears the half way point on the South Split project.

People enjoying the recently finished Cultural Trail will need to pay close attention if their route takes them along Virginia Ave near I-65 and 70.  Starting this week workers are replacing two steel beams that will cause the path to be re-routed for about two weeks.  The Indiana Department of Transportation says installing new beams is an important part of the project.  The structures were hit and fractured repeatedly by oversized loads traveling through the area.

INDOT reports construction is ahead of schedule and should be finished by the end of October.  A new time lapse video on INDOT’s You Tube channel shows the work being done.
