Trail Features Indiana, Kentucky Baseball Sites

HUNTINGBURG, Ind. (AP) — A southern Indiana baseball stadium that was used in the 1991 movie "A League of Their Own" will be the official launch site for the Heartland Historic Baseball Trail highlighting baseball landmarks along the Interstate 64 corridor.

Organizers say the goal of the trail is to attract visitors to the ballparks. A celebration will be held May 30 at League Stadium in Huntingburg for the start of the Dubois County Bombers home opener.

Other stops along the trail will include the Indiana Baseball Hall of Fame in Jasper, the Gil Hodges Mural in Petersburg, Gil Hodges Field in Princeton, Bosse Field in Evansville and the Louisville Slugger Museum and Factory in Louisville, Kentucky.

Each site features a placard telling about its significance.
