The Indiana Commission for Higher Education launched a new planning tool that will help more Indiana high school students keep track of college credits.

Indiana College Core is a group of college-level courses that transfer to all of Indiana’s public, and some private, institutions. It allows high school students to earn a full year’s worth of college credits at low or no cost before they even graduate.

The new tool, My College Core, helps keep all of this information centralized.

Michelle Ashcraft is with the Indiana Commission for Higher Education.

“The other thing that it does is provide some sort of wraparound support,” Ashcraft said. “So in addition to sort of mapping out the credits that will help them earn in College Core, there's some resources on there about what your next steps are.”

The site has information on Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA, filing and how earned credits might transfer to a university.

Indiana College Core is a part of the Commission’s goal of increasing the college-going rate and college completion.

Aschcraft said the goal is to have it accessible at all Indiana high schools by 2025.
