The 500 Festival needs thousands of volunteers this year.
Spokesperson Lindsay Labas said individuals and groups are needed who can provide their time and talent to support a wide number of programs and events.
“We have over 100 areas of volunteer opportunity which consists of about 7,000 positions that are available,” Labas said.
Festival organizers say they are looking forward to holding events in person following two years of virtual events amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We are looking for people to help us out because we do have a big need for volunteers right now,” Labas said.

500 Festival volunteers will receive:
- Free commemorative volunteer t-shirt
- Free collector’s pin
- Invitation to the 500 Festival’s Volunteer Appreciation Day hosted at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on May 21, 2022*
- Two tickets to the 2022 Indianapolis 500 qualifications*
- Access to the 500 Festival volunteer virtual goodie bag containing exclusive promotions and discounts
- Snacks and beverages during volunteer shift
- Special access at 500 Festival programs and events
Volunteers must register for at least one volunteer position by April 13 to receive an invitation to 500 Festival’s Volunteer Appreciation Day and tickets to Indy 500 qualifications.
