Thousands Of Firefighters Back in Indy

Firefighters from around the world are in downtown Indianapolis this week for the annual Fire Department Instructor’s Conference, FDIC.

FDIC Director Bobby Halton says around 34,000 firefighters will take part in hands-on training, workshops and classroom sessions.

“There will be about 4,000-5,000 firefighters who are doing the hands-on training," Halton says. "And we’ll be doing live fire training, extrication and we’re doing rescue.”

An opening ceremony will take place Wednesday at the Indiana Convention Center.
