Two people were shot, one of them fatally, outside the Castleton Square Mall Tuesday night.

Police were called to the 6000 block of East 82nd Street around 7:45 p.m. for a person shot. When they arrived they found a juvenile male in critical condition and an adult male in stable condition.  The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said both victims were transported to a local hospital, where the juvenile died.

A third person, identified by police as a "person of interest," was not injured and remained on the scene. According to IMPD, that person was cooperating with detectives.

IMPD said the preliminary investigation shows an altercation between the three individuals in the mall parking lot led to the gunfire.

The shooting was the second outside a central Indiana mall in less than two weeks. On Dec. 23 Greenwood police responded to a report of shots fired outside the Greenwood Park Mall. There were no injuries reported in that incident.
