May will look different this year in the town of Speedway.

The COVID 19 pandemic prompted the rescheduling of the Indy 500 and other racing festivities to August. But, the Speedway Arts Advisory Council wants to keep the racing spirit alive this month.

President Alex Wisemiller says a contest campaign called ‘It’s Still May in Speedway’ encourages residents to decorate their porch and/or window.

Just trying to look for creativity. Whether its people decorating their porches like they normally would for the month of May- put racing flag banners up, checked flags out, says Wisemiller.

Participants simply need to share a photo of a decorated porch and/or window on Facebook by tagging the Speedway Arts Advisory Council while using the hashtags #SupportSpeedway and #StillMayInSpeedway.

Each contest has a $5 entry fee paid online with all proceeds benefiting the St. Christopher Church Food Pantry.

Judges will choose the winners and will be announced May 24th.
