Rep. Karlee Macer (D-Indianapolis) won’t run for governor, she announced Tuesday.

Macer had been exploring a run for governor for months, though she hadn’t taken any formal steps towards a bid. In a statement, the four-term state lawmaker says she’s inspired by the support she’s seen across the state. And Macer says while she’ll continue to focus on policymaking and problem solving, a gubernatorial run won’t be part of that.

Health care executive and former state health commissioner Woody Myers is the only Democrat who’s officially declared for the race. Sen. Eddie Melton (D-Gary) has an exploratory committee for governor.

Incumbent Republican Gov. Eric Holcomb launched his re-election bid last month.
