Donations are down this year for the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign.

Indiana Spokesperson Sam Hyde says it may be the result of a shortened holiday season, with Thanksgiving happening so late this year, and time is running out.

"We have a very narrow window of opportunity. There are still only so many kettles out there and so many hours when you can have bell ringers out," Hyde says. "So, the long and short of it is we have to work really, really hard this year to reach our fundraising goal."

The Red Kettle traditionally raises about $800,000, and Hyde says that will be a stretch this year.
