Indianapolis is hosting the largest gathering of motorsports professionals in the world this week.
Nate Swick with Visit Indy said the Professional Racing Industry Trade Show (PRI) is a huge tourism event in the city.
“It's going to be bringing 50,000 people to the city this weekend, generating more than $48 million in economic impact,” Swick said. “So certainly, a huge piece to the tourism puzzle. And as we're winding down the year here in December.”
This past May, PRi moved its headquarters from Southern California to Speedway.
“If you look at PRI's numbers, I know their exhibitors are up 10% from last year. So, there's going to be a lot of people, a lot of exhibitors, more than 1,000 in the city,” Swick said. “And then of course, tons of attendees and no better place to have this event than the Racing Capital of the World.”
More than 1,000 motorsports companies from around the world will showcase their products and technology at the 34th annual PRI Trade Show.
It kicked off Thursday at the Indiana Convention Center and runs through Saturday.
