Pumpkin Patch Proceeds Go To Local Shelter

A festive pumpkin patch adorned the south lawn of the Indiana State House Tuesday to help raise money for the Midwest Food Bank.  The effort is part of this year’s State Employees’ Community Campaign that has contributed over 25 million in charities over the past 35 years.

Governor Mike Pence's Press Secretary Kara Brooks says the Governor and his family have worked to feed hungry Hoosiers in the past.  "If you remember during his inauguration he had several events and opportunities for people to donate canned food."  During that time Pence helped to collect nearly 1,500 pounds of food and raise more than $2,500 for the Midwest Food Bank.

The pumpkin patch event coincides with the start of the holiday season when Hoosier shelters will be working overtime to help combat hunger in Indiana.
