Presidential Campaigns Target Indiana

INDIANAPOLIS — We’re still a week away from the Indiana primary, but candidates are wasting no time with campaign stops.

After several events over the last few days, Republican Texas Sen. Ted Cruz has scheduled another rally for Tuesday evening. Tuesday’s rally will be at the Hoosier Gym in Knightstown at 7 p.m.

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, a Democrat, will make her first visit to the Hoosier state Tuesday. She will tour Munster Steel in Gary in the afternoon where she’s expected to discuss her support of Indiana’s steel companies. She will then visit the AM General plant in Mishawaka where she’ll share her “Make it in America” plan.

Meanwhile, former President Bill Clinton will stop by the Hillary for Indiana campaign office in Indianapolis Tuesday morning at 11:30 a.m. Doors at the office at 7235 N. Keystone Ave. will open at 10:45 a.m. The event is open to the public.

Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, who is also running for the Democratic nomination, will also visit Indiana for the first time this election season. Wednesday he will host two events. The first will be a town hall in West Lafayette at Purdue University.  Doors open at the Cordova Recreational Sports Center at 9 a.m. Tickets are required and can be found on Sanders’ campaign website.

The other Sanders event will be a rally in Bloomington at Indiana University. Doors open at Indiana University Auditorium at 5 p.m. The rally is open to the public with admission first come, first served, but RSVPs on the campaign website are encouraged.

Republican Donald Trump returns to Indianapolis this week with a 6 p.m. rally Wednesday at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in the Indiana Farmers Coliseum. Doors open at 3 p.m. Tickets can be found on Trump’s campaign website.

Indiana is the only state with a primary on Tuesday, May 3, which means the state is likely to see many more appearances by the candidates in the days leading up to Election Day.
