Peace Walk Will Honor Victims of Gun Violence in Indy

As Indianapolis grapples with escalating crime statistics, local officials have partnered with members of the faith community to organize a Peace Walk to honor victims of violence.

City-County Councillor La Keisha Jackson (D) said it will take a joint effort to address gun violence.

“I don’t think there is an end all or one answer to it but working together. I think it’s going to take all of us. I think local, state, federal, government,” Jackson said. “I think community, faith-based and the residents.”

The annual Far Eastside Community Peace Walk will take place Saturday at noon at the Reset Center, 4330 North Post Road. It is open to all residents from across the city.

Walkers are invited to join Anthony Beverly and members of Stop The Violence Indianapolis for a door-to-door “Knock for Change” effort to provide information on community resources and gun violence prevention.
