Rates for parking meters outside of the downtown core are going up. Prices in downtown Indianapolis, Massachusetts Ave. and Broad Ripple increased last year for the first time in a decade to $1.75.
Now other meters outside of the city’s center will experience a 25 cent rate hike. The change will impact areas on the near north, east and south sides of downtown.
The new $1.25 rate begins Feb. 1 and will be posted on the pay box.
Indianapolis’ parking meters are operated through a partnership with Park Indy. The multi-decade contract allows the company to raise rates based on a formula that considers regional prices.
