Officer in Good Condition After Being Shot on Indy's East Side

An Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officer was shot Sunday evening on the city's east side.

The shooting occurred when officers were attempting to apprehend a shoplifter from the Lowes located in the area of 25th Street and Post Road. According to IMPD, a physical struggle with the suspect led to the officer being shot. The officer was treated on scene by other officers before being transported to Eskenazi Hospital.

The suspect was apprehended later.

The name of the officer has not been released.  The name of the suspect and possible charges have not been released. Police say it is still very early in their investigation.
