New Nature Preserve Sign Defaced

New Nature Preserve Sign Defaced

It’s not even open to the public yet but a new nature preserve has already been vandalized.

The Laura Hare Preserve at Blossom Hollow is an important conservation site in Johnson County.  The property features over 100 acres of protected, untouched Hoosier forest with only a trail, a small gravel parking lot and a sign that has now been marred.

The sign was just installed last week and neighbors reported the paint over the weekend.  The forest is home to three rare species including two warblers and a box turtle as well as other native plants and bugs.

Contributions of approximately $500,000 to the Central Indiana Land Trust made it possible for the trust to purchase the property, and provide for ongoing maintenance so it will forever be protected and conserved.

The Blossom Hollow Preserve will open to the public next month and visitors are encouraged to leave only footprints.
