More businesses in downtown Indianapolis will have live streaming video access. That is through the city’s new b-link initiative, which links a camera network together to help IMPD investigate crime.

The city launched b-link about six weeks ago. The Huse Culinary locations Thursday added five cameras to provide 15 additional streams on Illinois and Georgia Streets.

The Indy Public Safety Foundation's Dane Nutty says 35 other businesses have also reached out from the downtown mile square with an interest in adding cameras.

Anywhere from 60 to 85 additional cameras or camera views that will be added to downtown and the idea is we work with businesses – it’s their security system, their cameras but they simply share live-steam access to IMPD, says Nutty.

B-link uses cloud-based technology to connect the security camera systems directly with intelligence detectives at IMPD’s Incident Analysis Center.

It comes after more than 35 million dollars in public safety technology upgrades.
