The race for Indiana’s 7th Congressional district has been relatively quiet. The district includes most of Marion County and Indianapolis. The seat has been held by a Democrat since Julia Carson was elected in 2002.
Incumbent Democrat André Carson succeeded his grandmother in the seat following her death in 2007. Republican Susan Marie Smith is challenging Carson in this year's election.

to observe social distancing -- about issues including health care, pandemic response, racial justice and economic recovery.
The interviews have been edited for length.
Democratic incumbent candidate André Carson was born and raised in Indianapolis. He served two years on the City-County Council and has a law enforcement background. He's held the Congressional seat since March 2008.
Republican Susan Marie Smith is originally from Fort Wayne. She is an attorney and professor who has served on numerous boards.
