The Town of Cumberland is presenting a potential plan for a mixed-use development project that could save a historic church.  On Wednesday night, Town Manager Andrew Klinger announced that the Town is in discussions with TWG Development about a proposed reuse development.

The proposal would preserve the structure of the church at the corner of German Church Rd and Washington St. and add onto the building, creating a senior housing and retail space.
The structure is in danger of being torn down and replaced with a gas station. That deal was contingent on a rezoning request that passed earlier this month.

The Town says they are still working on the details of the proposal and funding for a counter-offer would come from a private/public partnership.
