Indiana reports a more than 80 percent increase in domestic violence deaths in the pandemic. Health care professionals are also seeing an increase in the intensity of assaults.
WFYI’s Jill Sheridan spoke with IU Health Methodist Hospital Forensic Nurse Examiner Julie Morrison via Zoom. She has worked as a nurse for more than 35 years and says when the COVID-19 shutdown happened in the spring, it caused dangerous situations for people experiencing domestic violence.
