John Gregg Announces Rep. Christina Hale As Running Mate

INDIANAPOLIS -- Democratic gubernatorial candidate John Gregg Wednesday revealed that state lawmaker Christina Hale will join him on the ticket this fall.

Christina Hale is a two-term state representative who’s made addressing Indiana’s sexual assault issues a major focus. Gregg says, if elected, the former Kiwanis International executive will be his right hand, helping run the day-to-day operations of state government.

He says naming Hale as his running mate was a governing decision, not a political one, and that her gender wasn’t a factor.

“Christina’s record speaks for itself – endorsed by the Chamber of Commerce as well as organized labor,” Gregg says.

Hale calls Gregg an “effective leader” and someone who shares her commitment to real results.

“Indiana was moving forward until Mike Pence came along,” Hale says. “Now, of late, we’ve been driven by one man’s ideology.”

In a statement, Gov. Pence welcomed Hale to the race and says he looks forward to a “spirited debate.”

Pence will be on the November ballot with Lt. Gov. Eric Holcomb, who took office in March after Pence’s 2012 running mate Sue Ellspermann resigned. Ellspermann was recently named the new president of Ivy Tech Community College.
