Indianapolis Public Schools says it is cancelling classes on Nov. 19 in support of the Red for Ed Action Day.

The school district, one of the largest in the state, says it has declared Nov. 19 a professional development day, in support of teachers planning to attend the Red for Ed Action Day at the Indiana Statehouse.

To make up the classroom instruction time, IPS' previously scheduled professional development day on April 17 will now be a regular school day with student attendance.

IPS says updates, including information on free meal service and child care options will be posted to its website
