As of Tuesday morning, only one large event planned in Indianapolis has been impacted by the COVID-19 outbreak.

Visit Indy Spokesman Chris Gahl says American Coatings asked to postpone its international show this month after a sudden, dramatic drop in attendance based on travel restrictions tied to the virus.

Gahl says the international conference brings in 10,000 attendees from around the globe while generating $7.9 million in economic impact for the city.

"They wanted to postpone the large trade show so we worked very quickly with our teammates at the Indiana Convention Center and our hotels to find dates later in 2020," says Gahl.

Visit Indy has contacted all convention groups slated to visit Indianapolis through June to calm any health concerns.

"Though there have been a few cases reported here in the state of Indiana that are partners at the capital improvement board, our hotels, the airport are putting in extra hours, extra measures and extra preventative care in place to make sure the facilities are sparkling and healthy," says Gahl.

Indianapolis hosts more than 700 conventions and events annually.
