Inmate Escapes From Custody In Eastern Indiana

NEW CASTLE, Ind. (AP) — Authorities say an inmate has escaped from custody in eastern Indiana.

The Henry County sheriff's department says 43-year-old Delmar Ray Gabbard was being sought on Monday morning after escaping Sunday evening from a corrections facility that houses non-violent offenders.

Sheriff Richard McCorkle says Gabbard fled after requesting some ice from a corrections officer. He had been jailed since May 1 on drug-related charges.

Anyone with information on Gabbard's whereabouts is asked to contact the Henry County sheriff's department or call 911.
