Indy Parks and Recreation will host its annual Pack the Parks event Saturday. Over 25,000 people attended the event last year and more expected this year.
The event is both a thank you to long time park customers and an opportunity to showcase what amenities public parks have to offer.
Family Centers at Indy Park locations will host a variety of scheduled activities throughout the day and all park and pool admissions will be free. Parks director Linda Broadfoot says the event is a great opportunity for people who might not usually be able to experience the parks.
“We hope it’s a chance for folks for whom that nominal fee is a stretch or maybe don’t get to enjoy our pools as often or don’t get to go out to Eagle Creek,” says Broadfoot. “And hopefully we are attracting folks who maybe don’t normally come out to a park on a Saturday.”
Broadfoot says this is an opportunity for people to learn more about what public parks have to offer - including nature centers, art classes and fitness opportunities.
