Pest control company Orkin recently released its annual list of top 50 cities for bed bug treatments and Indianapolis had 11th-most in 2017.

The list is based on treatment data from the metro areas where Orkin performed the most bed bug treatments from Dec. 1, 2016 to Nov. 30, 2017.  The ranking includes both residential and commercial treatments.

"Any type of home is prone to bed bugs," says Tim Husen, an Orkin entomologist. "It has nothing to do with sanitation. We have treated for bed bugs everywhere, from newly built upscale homes to public housing."

Husen says bed bugs continue to invade homes and businesses on a regular basis because they aren't seasonal pests, and only need blood to survive.
