Indy Creative Beatriz Vasquez uses a unique form of art to share her passion for social and humanitarian causes.

Her practice is prolific. She had three shows on exhibit in Indianapolis before galleries and venues closed due to the pandemic, and she had three more scheduled for this year.

From WFYI's Arts and Culture Desk, Jill Ditmire spoke over the phone with Vasquez about the significance of using an ancient method of paper cutting called Papel Picado to create her art.

She is currently working on an environmentally-focused Papel Picado installation for one of the IPS schools involved in the Arts for Learning Third Space program.
