Indianapolis To Receive Federal Stimulus Funding

Indianapolis is set to get an infusion of federal stimulus money. The city expects to receive upwards of $420 million.

The sum is more than twice what the city received from last year’s CARES act.

The $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan was passed earlier this month and aims to spur the country’s economic recovery from the pandemic.

Last year the city spent federal funding on programs including rental assistance, homelessness services, personal and protective gear, and small business support.  As the money was spent, city officials emphasized the need for another round to sustain relief efforts.

City leaders are working to identify where the greatest need is now. Guidance from federal treasury officials about how the money may be spent is expected in the coming weeks.
