The company that leases the Indiana Toll Road has announced plans for $200 million in improvements on the 157-mile highway.
file photoGRANGER, Ind. (AP) — The company that leases the Indiana Toll Road has announced plans for $200 million in improvements on the 157-mile highway stretching across the northern part of the state between Ohio and Illinois.
The Indiana Toll Road Concession Co. announced Tuesday the work will be done on a 70-mile section of the Toll Road from Portage to Elkhart. The work will include new asphalt, work on interchanges, shoulder replacement and work on 53 bridges.
Gov. Mike Pence says the work, which will not include state funds, will create 300 jobs. Pence said it is the largest project on the road since it was built more than 50 years ago. The work will be done by Rieth-Riley Construction Co.
Work is scheduled to begin in March and be completed by December 2017.
