Members of Indiana Task Force One are ready once again to help those in need.

Michael Pruitt, public information officer for Indiana Task Force One, says 16 members of a water rescue team are currently staged in Montgomery, Alabama awaiting deployment orders on where to assist during Hurricane Michael.

“They spent a year training for this type of activity and that is going to be their primary mission,” Pruitt says.

Pruitt says some of the members recently returned from the Carolinas, where they assisted with Hurricane Florence recovery efforts.

“They understand that’s the commitment they have to make to this team," he says.  "There is always that chance you have to turn around and go right back out again, and I think they are always prepared to do that.”

The National Hurricane Center described Hurricane Michael as "potentially catastrophic" and could be the worst storm ever to hit the Florida Panhandle.
