CHESTERTON, Ind. (AP) — A northwestern Indiana newspaper that has been publishing since 1884 is ending its print edition.

The Chesterton Tribune said it deeply regrets the move.

“A variety of factors led to the decision, including the decline in hands-on print publications and the economic impact of the nation’s failure to curb COVID -19,” the Tribune said on its website.

“The last day of publication will be Wednesday, December 30. Until that time this newspaper will cover local news as if there was no tomorrow,” the Tribune said.

The future of the website is being discussed, the newspaper said.

Arthur Bowser, the owner of Chesterton Realty, first published the paper in 1884, according to a book about Porter County history.
