Indiana Has A Story To Tell

More people are moving to Indiana than moving away for the first time in years.

The 2018 National Movers Study found just over 51 percent of state-to-state moves involving Indiana were in-bound.

Indiana Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch said she expects that trend to continue with the COVID-19 pandemic.

“A lot of the people who are going to move out of the larger cities, that’s what the research has been telling us, looking for places that are less dense, where they don’t feel like they are on top of each other and where they feel the virus can spread more quickly,” Crouch said.

Indiana Destination Development Corporation Secretary and CEO Elaine Bedel said the state has launched a new initiative called Hoosiers by Choice, with the Indiana Association of Realtors, that showcases what makes Indiana appealing to many people.

Bedel said the hope is to draw more people to the Hoosier state.

“Getting our message out there, to change the perception that Indiana is a fly-over state, it’s nothing but cornfields, we have lots of factories,.” Bedel said.

Videos showcasing people living in northern, central and southern Indiana will be shared on social media platforms.
