INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — About 60 Indiana National Guard soldiers are being deployed to the Guantanamo Bay detention center in Cuba.
National Guard officials say the members of the 38th Infantry Division were recognized during a departure ceremony Sunday at the main Guard armory in Indianapolis.
Guard officials say the Indiana soldiers will be involved in operations of the U.S. prison for terror suspects. They will be replacing 60 other Indiana Guardsmen who departed in November.
The Indiana soldiers will finish their training at Fort Bliss, Texas, before heading to Cuba.
