Indiana Chief Justice Loretta Rush Wednesday called on lawmakers to invest more money in court technology during the 2015 State of the Judiciary.
Rush says Indiana will begin moving this year to statewide electronic filing in its courts. She says e-filing will transform the way Hoosiers interact with the judicial system and save countless hours and costs by moving away from paper. But she says that move to e-filing will cost money – and notes the judiciary operates on less than one percent of the total state budget.
“Pennies of additional investment now will reap dollars of savings in future records management costs," Rush said. "And if our Indiana judicial system is to be on the right course, we must act now.”
