Indianapolis Animal Care Services/FacebookIndianapolis Animal Care Services will hold a late night adoption event Friday to clear kennel space. A seasonal influx of animals comes with cold weather, and IACS says it is running out of space.
The Late Night Adopt-A-Thon event will happen from 6 to 10 p.m.
Director Katie Trennepohl says the later hours allow more people the opportunity to adopt.
“One of the barriers for people is, if we close at 6 and they have you know full time day jobs, or if they’ve got children in school its hard for them to get here," Trennepohl says. "So, we are just hoping to reach a different audience by staying open late and removing some of those barriers."
The event will feature free children's activities, a pet photobooth and food truck. All adoptions are free. The first 25 dogs and 10 cats adopted will receive free adoption kits.
Other IACS business -- including animal intakes, lost pet tours and returns to owners -- will not be available after 6 p.m.
