Up to 1,200 dogs and cats will be available for adoption during the 5th annual Indy Mega-Adoption Event at the Indiana State Fairgrounds this weekend.
Event organizer Megan Bennett says there will be adoptable animals of all ages, breeds, and sizes from shelters and rescues across Indiana.
“Thirty different rescue groups from all of central Indiana and actually farther away," Bennett says. "We have some groups from South Bend this time, so it’s pretty much a statewide event at this point and this is definitely the biggest amount of animals and groups we’ve ever had.”
Bennett has this tip if you come to the event looking for a new pet.
“Take your time and make sure this is a great adoption for you and you are picking a right animal for your family,” she says.
All animals will be spayed or neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped for identification. The adoption fee is $30.
The event is free, but parking at the fairgrounds is $5.
