Hundreds of military veterans are expected to attend the 11th annual Operation Hire A Hoosier Vet Employment Fair Wednesday, April 19 at the Indiana State Fairgrounds.  Employers from across Indiana will be recruiting for a wide-variety of positions.

Bret Capps served in the U.S. Navy for eight years and now is employed at Comcast Indiana.  He is at the job fair -- hoping to connect with potential employees..

“There is a new language you pick up when you are in the military that most civilians do not know. I can go down there and talk to other vets and understand what they are trying to tell me as far as what their job duties were," Capps says. "They can tell me what they did in the military and I can translate that into civilian job duties at Comcast.”

Capps says when employers hire a veteran, they are getting a top notch employee..

"I think vets bring a skill set of independence, hard work and dedication," he says. "You have to be a dedicated individual to sign your name on a dotted line and go serve your country and I think many of those veterans can do that for many civilian companies as well.”

Operation Hire a Hoosier Vet is the largest employment event in Indiana for the military and veteran community.

The event takes place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Agriculture/Horticulture Building at the Indiana State Fairgrounds.
