Governor-elect Eric Holcomb says he will unveil his legislative agenda the first week of January, as the General Assembly’s 2017 session begins.

In recent years, the annual Bingham Greenebaum Doll Legislative Conference served as the unofficial kickoff for the governor’s legislative agenda. Holcomb will speak at the event, but he says he’ll avoid specifics, as his team is still building his agenda.

Holcomb says he’ll use the speech to talk about the road to his electoral victory.

“I say at times it was a bumpy flight, but we stuck the landing and all is well,” Holcomb says. “And then I’ll put out the framework about what I will seek in the General Assembly.”

Holcomb also addressed the pace of his transition, which some have characterized as slow.

“Well, I would just remind everybody that there was nothing traditional about the year 2016,” Holcomb says. “And I have the benefit of – Rome is not burning. I am the lieutenant governor of an administration that will become the governor of the next administration.”

Holcomb adds he will unveil his full legislative agenda Jan. 5.
