Health Care Enrollment Campaign Rolls Out

Health Care Enrollment Campaign Rolls Out

A group of local leaders and organizations gathered Thursday to highlight a growing health marketplace ahead of the next round of open enrollment.

Officials estimate there are still around 600,000 Hoosiers that are living without health insurance.

Informing these people about their next opportunity to sign up for affordable healthcare is a top priority says Kathleen Falk, director of Heath and Human Services for the region serving Indiana.

"Surveys have shown us that about 89 percent of the uninsured do not know that they have this opportunity coming up in just nine days for them to shop on a website, compare prices and buy affordable healthcare that will give them and their families much greater health security and financial security," says Falk

Enroll Marion County is a collaborative effort to inform people about eligibility, insurance plans and how to enroll.  The awareness campaign comes before the marketplace opens to the public November 15.

There are nine providers for people to choose from this time around, more than twice the amount when the marketplace first opened.

The initial enrollment period was fraught with technical problems but officials say the website is now operating smoothly. A number of events are planned to inform Hoosiers about their options and information is available at IN211.org

Open enrollment will run through Feb. 15.
