INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Authorities say roads across parts of Indiana are icy following freezing rain and light snow, causing crashes and leading some schools to delay the start of classes or close.

Multiple crashes were reported Wednesday morning in central Indiana. The National Weather Service says patchy freezing drizzle and snow were reported, with light snow showers expected to continue.

More than 100 schools announced delayed starts due to the weather and some in the Indianapolis are closed for the day Wednesday.

In the Indianapolis area, IndyGo buses were delayed after the public transit agency said buses stopped running for about 15 minutes due to the icy roads.

Northern Indiana also was affected by freezing rain. Police in Lafayette warned of very icy conditions in the area and said there were numerous crashes.
