Duke Energy Indiana spokesperson McKenzie Barbknecht said more than $225,000 in financial assistance is still available for customers struggling to pay their energy bills.
High inflation rates are costing Hoosiers more at the grocery store and gas pump. Rising fuel costs also impact the price of electricity.
Duke Energy Indiana spokesperson McKenzie Barbknecht said more than $225,000 in financial assistance is still available for customers struggling to pay their energy bills.
“Fuel accounts for a significant portion of our electric costs. It averages about 30 percent of the total bill so when there are volatile energy markets it can have a really big impact,” Bardknecht said.
Customers can receive up to a $300 credit annually on their account. They are encouraged to contact their local community action agency to take advantage of available funds locally.
The funding is made possible through the company’s Share the Light Fund. Duke says it has been able to support approximately 450 households so far this year.
