The Future Farmers of America has a new initiative to develop technology to improve nutrition and preserve the environment. It will launch this at its next national conference in Indianapolis.

FFA member and finalist for American Star in agriscience, Loren King helped announce the plan at a press conference Monday. The new technology exhibit is called The Blue Room.

“The Blue Room is going to take that excitement and funnel the best possibilities in science, future technology, idea creation, and even starting businesses right into the hands of FFA members," King says.

Members will be able to work with some of the technology on exhibit. They will also have access to it after the conference, digitally.

FFA CEO Mark Poeschl says this is important.

“So for the more than 65,000 guests who will join us this year’s convention, we believe that The Blue Room will awaken new thoughts and inspire our members to find the next agricultural advancements," Poeschl says.

Gov. Eric Holcomb spoke at the announcement and says the FFA technology focus supports Indiana’s work in life sciences innovation.

“This is what the state of Indiana around the world has become synonymous with, and we’re foraging into the future into these critically important endeavors," Holcomb says.

The unveiling of The Blue Room will take place at the 91st National FFA Convention and Expo which will take place in October.
