Fans attending College Football Playoff National Championship will encounter road closures

The College Football Playoff National Championship at Lucas Oil Stadium on Jan. 10 and related events over the weekend will involve road closures throughout downtown Indianapolis.

Washington Street between Pennsylvania and Illinois streets will be closed from 3 to 11 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday. Monument Circle will also be cleared of pedestrians at 3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday to allow for concert setup.

The Extra Yard 5K, beginning at 10 a.m. on Sunday, will start at the Indiana Convention Center along Missouri Street before heading east on South Street. Runners will then travel south on Capitol Avenue, east on Merrill Street, north on Illinois Street, east on Georgia Street, south on Pennsylvania Street, east again on South Street, then north on Virginia Avenue and west on Maryland Street before moving back to the convention center via West Street.

The weekend’s events and Monday's game between No. 1 Alabama and No. 3 Georgia are expected to draw nearly 100,000 people.
